Cookies and browser storage
What these technologies do
Cookies are small pieces of data a website can ask a browser to retain and return with later requests. Local storage and session storage are separate browser mechanisms that scripts can use to keep data on a device. Browser caches, downloaded files and clipboard contents serve different purposes and are not cookies.
The editorial pages and their scripts
The editorial page scripts implement navigation, entry animations and the local enquiry tool. They do not set advertising or analytics cookies, write enquiry fields to local storage, or load third-party tracking scripts. The website’s page assets are requested from this site rather than from embedded social-media or video services.
Any separately presented consent controls should be read together with their stated categories and purposes. Non-essential technologies must not be enabled before any consent required by law. Rejecting optional technologies should not prevent access to the material chapters.
Local enquiry information
The enquiry preview is held in the current page. Copying places the note on your device’s clipboard when permitted. Downloading creates a text file under your control. Neither action sends the note to us. Closing the page ends the tool’s active session, although your browser may independently restore page state or autofill information according to its own settings.
For sensitive material, clear the fields, review browser autofill settings and delete any downloaded files or clipboard contents you no longer need. These device-level copies are not removed by clearing website cookies alone.
Technical delivery and external sites
Hosting or security infrastructure may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver pages or protect the service. Ordinary request logs are not browser cookies and are addressed in our Privacy policy. Following a source link takes you to another organisation’s website, where its own cookie and privacy rules apply.
Your controls
You can inspect and delete site data through your browser’s privacy or site-information settings. Browsers commonly allow you to block third-party cookies, clear stored data and control clipboard permissions. Blocking scripts will disable the local note preview and export buttons, but the articles and email contact details remain readable.
Where an optional consent interface is provided, use its preference controls to change an earlier choice. Clearing site storage may remove a remembered preference and cause the interface to ask again.
